On Friday, September 5th, Bouquet Canyon PTA kicked off our Music Program with an assembly for students in the 4th through 6th grades. The Music Program instructors gave an impressive performance, demonstrating several different kinds of instruments. Afterwards, students were able to spend some time talking with the instructors and handling some of the instruments.
The program consists of the following classes: Brass, Woodwinds, Percussion, Chorus and Strings. All classes meet after school for one hour every week. Beginning classes will be taught from 3-4pm (with the exception of chorus). Returning students will be taught from 4-5pm. Classes will begin the week of September 15th and run until the first week of May, when the students will perform in an evening concert for friends and family and a daytime concert for the school.
The cost of the eight-month program with be $225 per student ($175 for each additional student in the same family). Instruments will need to be rented or purchased at the parents' expense. All classes, with the exception of percussion will also have an initial materials fee of $15 to be paid at the time of registration. Students in the beginning Percussion Class will need to purchase a Percussion Kit at a cost of $50, which is to be paid at the time of registration.
Parents and students are to attend the mandatory Parent/Rental Night on Wednesday, September 10th at 7pm in the MPR. The PTA will be offering some scholarships for students who would like to attend but may be unable to participate due to cost. Please contact Tarra Messick or Lori Russum for additional information or if you have any question.
